What’s Your WHY? Your True WHY Is The Heart Of Your Business Success

Hey there, Gorgeous!

Have you ever stumbled upon the phrase, "If your WHY doesn’t make you cry, it’s not big enough"? I've heard that said by so many people and I honestly don't know who to attribute it to. But, although I'm not certain of its origin, its message resonates deeply.

What's Your Why? If your why doesn't make you cry it's not big enough

It's about uncovering the profound reason behind your business venture or your daily motivation to work, or simply why you get out of bed every day.

If you run a business - or want to - why? What's your reason for wanting this?

Want to write a book? Why?

Or perhaps you want to create a new product for your business. Why?

Uncovering the Layers of Your 'Why'

Here's the thing... your 'WHY' isn't just a superficial reason; it's the core of your entrepreneurial spirit.

Your 'WHY' is the heartbeat of your business. There's no right or wrong answer here, but it's crucial to have one. If you've been feeling a bit sluggish or find yourself procrastinating with a dip in motivation, it might be time for some soul-searching.

Let's dive into your core reason for starting this journey.

The Multiple Layers of 'Why'

I've heard it said that our first answer to 'why' barely scratches the surface. And in my experience, I have to agree with this idea. We usually have to dig deep to get to the real reason.

For instance, you might say your 'why' for starting your business is to work from home.

Cool. But why do you want to work from home?

To be available for your family.

Okay, great.  And why is that important for you?

This process of continuously asking 'why' can reveal deeper motivations and desires. It's believed that it can take up to seven layers of this questioning to unearth the REAL 'why' – the one that truly moves you to tears and dedicated action.

Finding Your True Driving Force

Let's try this together. Grab a pen and jot down why you started your business.

Was it to fill your time, to add to the family budget or something more personal like medical bills or education expenses?

Your 'WHY' can be as unique as you are, but it should drive you, push you out of your comfort zone and fuel your determination to succeed.

So, start with a simple statement about why you began your business. Then keep asking yourself 'why' for each answer you give.

It's a journey to the heart of your aspirations, revealing what genuinely inspires and drives you.

When You're Unsure Of Your 'Why'

Not everyone has their 'why' figured out and that's okay. It's a journey, not a race.

Start by reflecting on what makes you happy, what you're passionate about and where you find yourself most fulfilled. Sometimes, your 'why' is hidden in your happiest moments or toughest challenges.

The Power Of A Compelling 'Why'

I recently watched an interview with Dr. John Demartini who said, "If you have a big enough WHY, the HOWS will take care of themselves." This quote beautifully captures the essence of finding your 'why'. (You can see that interview with Dr. John Demartini here, if you're interested.)

When your purpose is clear and strong, it paves the way for solutions, strategies and pathways to emerge, almost organically. If your why is strong enough, don't worry if you don't yet know how to make it happen. Just take one baby step at a time and you'll figure it out.

Your 'Why' as Your Guiding Star

In the complex world of business, your 'why' serves as a guiding star, keeping you aligned with your core values and vision.

It becomes the fuel for persistence in the face of challenges and the beacon that guides your decisions and actions.

Embrace the Evolution of Your 'Why'

Remember, your 'why' is not static. It evolves as you grow personally and professionally.

Embrace this evolution and revisit your 'why' periodically. As life unfolds, you may find new layers of motivation and purpose adding depth to your entrepreneurial journey.

For some, it’s about survival and responsibility, like a single parent hustling to provide for their child. For others, it might be a passion for a cause or climbing out of financial difficulty.

Whatever it is, own it, and let it be the fire that propels your business forward.

The Transformational Impact of Your 'Why'

Ultimately, understanding and embracing your 'why' can be transformational. It's not just about business success; it's about personal fulfillment and making a meaningful impact in the world.
